Tweed River Boat Hire FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

  • Do you have a Company Policy? - Yes we do. Very important that you read it
  • Do I have to have a Boat Licence? - No but you do need ID and be over 18 years of age
  • Do you operate on NSW or Queensland time? - We are located in NSW and operate on NSW DST time
  • BBQ boats operate between 8.00am-4.00pm NSW all other boats 7.00am-5.00pm NSW DST Time
  • Is it safe to swim in the Tweed river? - Yes, as long as all safety precautions are taken
  • Do we need a NSW fishing permit? - No, that is already included in the hire of our boats
  • Can we take the boat to Tumblegum? - No, there are operating area restrictions
  • I have 8 adults and 5 children, can I hire a 12 person BBQ Boat? - Sorry that's 13 people
  • Do you have eftpos? - Yes we do but sorry we do not accept Amex
  • I have a Dog can I take him on a BBQ Boat? - Sorry No, it's a Health and Safety Regulation
  • What sort of Fish will I catch? - Fish can include Bream, Flathead, Tailor, Tarwhine, Whiting and Mangrove Jack
  • Can I catch Mud and Blue Swimmer Crabs? - Yes, when river conditions are favorable
  • Can I book a BBQ boat for 1/2 Day? - Yes, usually on the day before or on the day of hire
  • Can I play music on the BBQ Boat? - Yes, there is a AM/FM Radio with Bluetooth Connection
  • Can I boil water on the BBQ Boats? - No, Please bring your own thermos
  • What can I hire? - Fishing rods, nets, crab pots and Yabby pumps ($5.00 ea¬†and a $20.00 Deposit is required)
  • If I am a regular can I get a discount? - Yes, after 10 recorded hires your next hire will be free to the same
  • What size are the motors? - All motors are governed to do 10 knots so no boat licence is required
